One proud mom!!!

I am so blessed to have a wonderful son! I watch kids that are rude and mean to others and thank God that I am blessed with such a caring, awesome young man. I've failed to update everyone on the things going on in Triston's life. Triston was awarded for his advanced reading at school and his good attendance. Just watching him receive his award and looking back at how much he has grown and learned just in a few years is an awesome experience. I would not trade being his mom for anything. Everyday he tells me how much he loves me and occasionally throws in comments like "You are the best mom ever!"

June 11th we celebrated Triston's 8th birthday. We had a slumber party with five 8 year old boys. Most of the boys were awesome except for one (there is always one...). After the party was over Triston tells me that he doesn't want that boy to come over anymore. When I asked him why he said "because he was not nice to you." Not many 8 year olds would notice how their parents are treated but he did. Other than the one kid, we all had a blast at his party. The boys had a water ballon fight, pizza and brownies for dinner, and then pretty much had run of the house. They played the Wii, Playstation, ran around shooting the new nerf guns and whatever else their imaginations came up with.

It's amazing how quick he has grown up. I remember how excited I was when he said his first word "Momma" and took his first steps when he was in my office. Those are moments that I will hold on to forever! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to watch this young man grow and learn new things. Thank you God for this wonderful boy you have given me!

Hannah's First Baby Shower

We had our first shower! We wanted something informal and more like a party atmosphere. It was exactly what we wanted! Tim and Jeremiah cooked fish and tons of people came to have a good time and celebrate our little Hannah. Triston had a blast playing with all his cousins and taking them on the golf cart. He is going to be a great big brother! I am so proud of him.

I was devestated when I realized I forgot my camera so I will have to wait to post the pictures when I get them from our family. I felt like a complete idiot! Hannah received tons of blankets and clothes. She is set for a while in that department. One of our friends made some awesome blankets. I can't wait to share the pictures of her creations. We received her bedding from our close friends (really more like family) Eddie and Shelley. I am very excited about getting her room ready for her arrival. I think Jeremiah's favorite gift was actually one that we received before the shower. It was a digital bath tub that we received from Uncle James and Aunt Karyn. It is a pretty neat tub that tells us the exact temp of the water. You know how guys are with tech toys.

It was great to see everyone. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful and supportive friends and family! And a special thanks to my mom, Shelley and Caroline for all the hard work that went into planning Hannah's First Baby Shower.

Childbirth & Sibling Class

We had our childbirth class on 5/16 and it went smoother than expected. Jeremiah was a real trooper from the breathing practice to the labor videos. The tour of the labor and delivery room was nice. The room has a couch for Jeremiah and nice wood floors. It was much better from the pale green room that I had Triston in, 8 years ago. A lot has changed since I had little man. Now instead of keeping the baby in the nursery they pretty much make you “room in” with your baby which means Hannah will be in my room all day and night except for about 30 minutes of the day when the doctor is checking on her. I took advantage of the time in the hospital so I could rest after delivery from Triston but now it sounds like there will be no rest….

The hospital also promotes breastfeeding which will be nice. I spent all of 30 minutes with a lactation nurse when I had Triston but at this hospital they have a lactation specialist at the hospital 24 hours a day. I will definitely use this to my advantage!

Triston had his sibling class on 6/3. He was so excited to learn all about his new baby sister. Triston has had many concerns about the safety of the baby and my safety as well. I think that the thought of having his mommy in the hospital was a little too much for him. And with us miscarrying last summer he is worried that the baby won’t make it. I have tried to reassure him that I am past the delicate stage and that the baby is doing very well. We also had to talk about if something were to happen to me or the baby that we would be in heaven watching over him. This was definitely not a talk I thought I’d have with my 7 year old but I am glad that he feels comfortable asking me these questions. After his sibling class and the tour of the labor and delivery area he said that he was feeling better and not worried anymore. When I asked him what his favorite part of the sibling class was he said that is was riding in the elevator. You have to love his honesty!
